Dr. Dalton's Blog- How Chiropractic care can help support those with chronic pain and disease
Chronic pain and disease not only takes a physical toll but also a mental toll on many individuals in the United States and recently in an article from the World Federation of Chiropractic they outlined the importance of comprehensive care for these individuals. The purpose of the article was to outline the importance and benefits of a multimodal approach to health care through the use of chiropractic care, traditional medical care, physical and occupational therapy. This simply means they have a team of providers that work hand in hand to help manage symptoms and also prevent future symptoms from occurring.
Current health care spaces are working to incorporate chiropractic care into this paradigm of healthcare for healthy aging, opioid misuse, and women/children/adolescent health. As medicine is advancing and prescription medication misuse is increasing, health care professionals are leaning into preventative and maintenance care options for their patients to help reduce the downward spiral of chronic pain and opioid dependence. Chiropractic fits into this model perfectly, as most chiropractors will see patients for an active complaint, and then continue seeing that patient periodically to help maintain the progress they’ve made since that active complaint.
Staying ahead of pain and discomfort is the most ideal form of health care, and chiropractic care is a great option for those searching for pain relief, better lifestyle habits, and improved quality of life as we age.
